(OOC: Little tired, there will be some typos and grammar errors... I hope tomorrow morning I can correct those)
It was a below average day at the academy Kenzin was a little tired, the students were not focused well at all, the sparing was mediocre, all in all nothing was going right. Earlier that day, everything went smoothly and everyone was fine. The students were complete an obstacle course their master created. It involved many different jumps, ducks, objects to evade, etc. This drill was an unorthodox way of training a fire bender. Kenzin ultimately wanted his students to improve their quickness and agility, which would translate in to improved fire bending. With all the vigorous work produced from the drill, one of his students threw up immediately after he finished his last lap. To the point where three other students followed the actions of their sick peer, and threw up as well. Kenzin has been in many different situations before, he has been instructing for more than twenty years, but this was the first time someone has actually threw up during a training session.
Kenzin realized no one will be able to finish the training session with even the littlest of concentration, so he just ended.
"Because of the lack of concentration I see from all of you, I am ending training for today. I know from the incident we had earlier, you are not able to focus and continue, so tomorrow I except you all to be attentive and ready to go. You are dismissed." said Kenzin, with his tired, yet still powerful voice. He got multiple replies from his students saying thank you Sifu Kenzin, or Master Kenzin, rarely would he be addressed by his surname. Kenzin did not like being called by his surname very much either.
After his only class of the day left, Kenzin was free to do whatever he wanted. If it was to just read a book at the park, or meet up with his old friends and play Pai Sho, he was able to do anything. All Kenzin really wanted to do though was eat meat, and have a more relaxing day. He walked threw the streets of Republic City, to find a very appealing restaurant near his academy. Many people were walking in and out of this busy building. Kenzin never recognized this building before. Walking closer to the front door of the restaurant, he read a sign...
"Grand opening of this great new restaurant! For today only, have all the meat you want at only half the price!"
Immediately Kenzin's eyes began to brighten and an glowing smile formed from the message on the sign. He entered the building and saw a line forming from the front desk. Kenzin walked to the end of the line, expecting the wait to be about three minutes or so to be seated.

It was a hot, humid day, no breeze to relieve you, no clouds to block the beating sun. Most were just trying to stay in the shade and keep cool, but Chase was working away, hauling some boxes out of the back of a truck, into a small shop. It had been hard to find work today, as everyone was shut up inside, but he was able to find a small job moving this cargo for an old woman into her shop. Zala, his dragon cat, laid on the shops' front porch, absorbing the heat from the rays. At least she was enjoying herself. Chase didn't mind the heat, but this was a little much.
Finishing the last of the load, the old woman thanked him, handing him a pouch of Yuans. The young firebender gave her a bow in the traditional fire nation manner, the woman inclining her head at him, returning into the shop. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he sat down next to where Zala was laying, propping p on one elbow. She raised her head, her huge golden eyes looking up at him. "You're just loving this, aren't you?" he asked his pet, the feline responding to him with a meow.
Taking a deep breath, it took everything in him to get up from that spot, it was just so hot. He managed to haul himself up, throwing his pack over one shoulder, walking down the street. Food was the only thing on his mind, really, so he made his way towards the first restaurant he saw. It was apparently new, and was having a very good sale. Well Zala would be happy about this one, wasn't this her lucky day. There was a little bit of a line up when he arrived, but he didn't think it was going to be too long to be seated.
A few more people came in to line up, Chase leaned against the wall. Zala, obviously bored, trotted over to the older looking man standing behind them, rubbing her body against his leg, looking up at him with a tiny 'mew'. Her sound caused Chase to look down, seeing his pet bugging the stranger. "Zala, no." he said quietly to the animal. "Sorry, sir." he said to the man, giving him a small bow.

The line slowly got shorter as the teacher waited. The environment was a typical restaurant environment, waiters and waitresses running to get orders, cleaning the messes that children and even adults have made, the usual situations that happen in a busy restaurant. Kenzin observed the decoration, the foods that were being served, to see possibly what he could eat at this new place. The smell of the vast variety of meat formed the smile Kenzin is famously recognized for by his friends and students, but his stomach was very hungry. He noticed by the intense growling from stomach.
As Kenzin was waiting, a furry thing began to rub against Kenzin's leg. A natural reaction came from him to jerked his leg forward and look down, all in a quick reflex of a firebender. His eyes focused more on this creature behind him. His facial expression showed much confusion. It is some sort of... hybrid, maybe of a cat and some other animal? Kenzin pondered about what this creature was. He turned his entire body around to see what was exactly happen. A young man apologized for the actions of the creature. Kenzin concluded that the creature was to ownership of this man.
"No worries." Kenzin replied with a smile, as the young man bowed. The young man's outfit that was similar to a Fire Nation outfit, the unique orange-like color to his hair, and the etiquette the man to bow and apologize for his pet, Kenzin was almost positive he was from the Fire Nation.
"I have never seen an animal like yours. Can you tell me more about your pet?" Kenzin asked, very curious.

In his town back home in the fire nation, Dragon Cats like Zala were very common. Of course this area is one of the only known location that they breed in, and only few outside of the town own one, so it was expected that people would be curious about Zala. Even he had to admit she was a unique looking creature. Maybe that's why he loved her so much, they had that in common. Zala, upon hearing her master's voice, returned to his side, sitting down by his feet. "She's a dragon cat, they breed in my town back in the fire nation." Chase explained. The line moved forwards. From this man's clothing, it definitely looked like he was either part of the fire nation, or was a firebender. It was always nice to meet a fellow firebender. "So, are you from the fire nation as well?" he asked, the line moving up again.
The hostess looked at Chase expectantly. It would be a pretty long shot, but for some reason, he wanted to talk to this man some more. He kind of reminded him of his master, the man who taught him bending and other martial arts. Him leaving was part of the reason Chase left home, it didn't seem the same without him. "Did you maybe want to eat together?" he asked, the waitress sighing impatiently.

Kenzin was surprised to know not about this breed of creature, from his home nation. In some ways, it was embarrassing for him. The expression drawn on his face was obvious, he was rattled. "That is very interesting." Kenzin replied, then immediately answered the next question said. "Yes I am!" Proudly replying to the question, with, again, a trademark smile of his. Kenzin was just about to ask the same, but his friend implied in one of his responses earlier, he was from the Fire Nation
Just to the side of Kenzin, the hostess was eager to give seats. Not realizing that it was his turn to get seated. Kenzin loved to chat to young men and teenagers. Kenzin assumed his acquaintance was over his teenage years and considered an adult now. He was just about to ask if they could eat together. Kenzin got beat to the question. "I was just going to ask the same thing." A laugh ended the response.
Kenzin could see the relief on the hostess' face. "So does that mean we are seating two today sir?" The hostess politely asked. Kenzin looked at his friend and nodded back to the hostess. She directed them to their table. Kenzin pulled out the chair and took a seat where he was told. He began to look at the menu that was given to him.
"By the way, I am Kenzin." Kenzin offered a hand.

Chase laughed as he said that he was going to say the same thing. Great minds think a like. The waitress lead them to their table and he took a seat across from the man, Zala jumping up into the chair next to him, her face level with the table. She liked watching what was going on. He knew some people didn't like animals near the table while eating, but she had to eat as well, and he definitely wasn't going to make her do it off the floor.
Chase took his hand and shook it with a firm grip, "I'm Chase." he refrained from using his last name, as had Kenzin. If he was from the fire nation, he would probably recognize the surname of one of the fire nation noble families. Not that he was ashamed of his blood line, people just treated him differently after they found out, so he tried to avoid the subject as much as possible. "So what brings you to the city?" even though the city was diverse, people from the fire nation usually liked to stay home, or at least live close. Only a few actually made a life in the city, and usually never came back. Chase had every intention on going back, he just didn't know when he would be ready.

"A pleasure to meet you, Chase." Kenzin was pleased to receive the gesture Chase gave back. During the shake, he could see the dragon cat jumping to her seat next to his master, desirous for food. Kenzin did not mind for Zala to eat with them both. At home, having many pets, he was used to having his many animals dine and play with them, almost on a daily basis. Kenzin continued to look at the menu. He was browsing more towards the chicken portion of the menu then anything. Kenzin loved his meat, loved it.
"Why am I here you ask? Well, I work at the Fire Academy not too far from here. Just a couple of blocks down the street." Kenzin paused, then continued. "I own that academy, I am also the Head Instructor." Kenzin did not like to brag about his position. He had difficult saying that without trying to sound cocky. "I came to Republic City to teach firebending. I love to train children, teenagers, and I have a class of young adults I specifically train with as well. I was born in the Fire Nation and have taught some children the basics in the Fire Nation, but I came here for a full-time job I could keep, and do what I love." Kenzin gave a hint a pride behind that answer, for he was truly proud of what he has done.
Kenzin finished browsing the menu, and had an order to give to their waitress, who was stand in front of the table, waiting for orders. "Can I have an order of roast duck, with a small side a noodles?" The waitress looked very experience, jotting down the notes of Kenzin's order very fast. "Would you like a drink to start of with?"
"Yes, green leaf. The older you get, the more you love tea." Kenzin smiled as he gave his menu back.
"And for you sir?"

Chase pet Zala's head as he skimmed over the menu. He was always so indecisive when it came to ordering food. He didn't know what was going to be good or not, but then again he wasn't that picky. At this point he almost wanted to just close his eyes and order the first thing he randomly pointed at. He looked up from his menu as Kenzin spoke of his academy. So he was a bending teacher? He knew now why he reminded him of his master. They were a lot alike, actually, except for in age. Kenzin was definitely a lot younger. "Wow, that's admirable. I wouldn't be able to teach bending to kids. I remember how much of a hard time I gave my master when I was a kid." he said with a small chuckle. How he wasn't beaten by every adult he ever spoke to was beyond him. As far as little boys went, Chase wasn't exactly the model son. He liked to think he had outgrown most of those obnoxious tenancies, but knew he still had his temper to work on.
"I'll have the same, and an order of raw beef." he ordered, handing the waitress the menu. He didn't know what to order, so opted with just trying out with whatever Kenzin was having. The beef was obviously for Zala. "And i'll have tea as well." even though it was hot out, tea still sounded nice.

Kenzin laughed at the comment Chase made. It sparked memories of past pupils and even students he is teaching now. "Yes, that is why I still teach." The waitress brought cups of tea for the two of them, setting them of a small plate. "Thank you ma'am." He paused for a moment, to take his first drink, and allow the waitress to leave. Kenzin continued, "I have many kids like that. Some better than others, but I think that is what separates the good teachers, from the great teachers. Able to grind continuously with your students, so you can mold them, bending wise and maturity wise."
For Kenzin, teaching was not a job to him, it was a passion. A purpose for him, to teach the beauty of fire, to educate people fire is not dangerous if you truly understand it. All the challenges he has been through, the peaks and pits, he loved it all. Talking to Chase made Kenzin think about why he still teaches, and the greatness of it.
"So you used to train formal back at the fire nation?" Lifting the hot cup of tea, Kenzin realized being a fire bender has some great perks, holding hot objects do not hurt as much. After another drink, he began to speak again, "Actually, I might know your master." He was hopeful that Chase's master was a part of the Order of the White Lotus. If that was the case, Kenzin might have befriended the man Chase has mentioned.

Chase gave a slight bow of his head to the waitress, "Thank you". Taking a sip, he savored the flavors, tea was something he had come to start enjoying since leaving home. It offered a simple comfort, and always seemed to relax him somehow. It was probably the warmth. As a fire bender, he obviously enjoyed hot beverages. Chase nodded at the other's words. He definitely sounded like his master. It made him chuckle a little.
So he might know his master? It wouldn't really be that far of a stretch, he was somewhat known in the fire nation. Before he retired a year ago, he had been the designated trainer for the fire nation noble families. Of course there were many noble families and some of them went with private trainers, but most of them were all trained under the same master. Chase had been especially close to him, though, unlike the other students who mostly just didn't want to learn bending. They had other interests, none of which appealed to Chase. Which was probably the reason he didn't have any close friends back home. "Ya, you might. His name is Kazu Ito." it felt a little bit weird saying his full name. Even though he knew it, he didn't think he had ever said it outloud before. He always just called him Master Kazu. He hated being called by his last name. Chase was curious to know if this man was familiar with him.
