Since Mom and Dad expect me to change, I thought it would be nice to give them something that I cataloged my changes in. Maybe I won't change though, and they'll see it in these words. A little baby is a big change, and they should have realized it long before they decided to have one. Doesn't Mom know that all it means is an unwelcome addition to her schedule, several healer appointments, and another child she has to feed? Anyway, enough moping about my life. I've decided to start writing in this every night after something significant happens to me during the day. A welcome addition to my schedule, if you will. Today, Yukiko and I took our normal routine. We rose a little after dawn and ambled down to the bakery, where we split a piece of warm bread. We then continued on to look for a job, admiring several shops along the way. I haven't yet found a stable I'll enjoy working in, but I don't need the money right now. My buffalo-yak races up north left me with a hefty amount of money, so I'll be fine for about another year unless I make an unnecessary splurge. After all morning of walking around, we made a visit to the Seaweed Noodlery, where their food tastes a little like mother's but it has a duller, meatier taste, like Southern Water Tribe food. We were walking through the park when I ran into a familiar face. Her name is Kana, and she used to go by Aria up north. Aria is a real big name in the world of criminals - she used to be pretty powerful in a gang. She's a firebender, but tribe-born. I used to be scared if I heard she was around, but now that I've met this "Aria," she doesn't seem so bad. She has a white hamster that likes to live in her hair, and I can't help but wonder if that's sanitary. Anyway, Yukiko took to her very nicely, and I suppose that's a good thing. But after a conversation that took much too long (and the loss of my noodles), I had to leave her to continue my daily schedule. I've been visiting the library quite a bit, and reading up on the history of my tribe. It's interesting, comparing the written history to the legends I heard as a child. While the history is more logical, I personally prefer the legends - there's just that extra bit of personal finesse that you can't get in a textbook. I've been reading about buffalo-yaks too, and the knowledge they have on them doesn't seem to be as extensive as it could. Being raised on a buffalo-yak farm, I know every little thing about these creatures. They have personalities like people, and they are living, breathing creatures. The books had anatomy diagrams and descriptions of how big they got and what they like to eat. I finished my day by having a pastry and cup of tea at a tea house, and it was a pretty lonely dinner.
