Kantaro's most distingushing feature is his eyes. His bright blue eyes contrast his black hair and olive skin very nicely, his dark lashes bringing out their color even more. His hair is thick and wiry, which is why he wears it fairly short, it is hard to manage any other way. In the sunlight, it reflects a slight blue tint. His skin is very smooth and tans easily. He is average height, standing about 5'9'' tall, weighing around 140 pounds. He has a fairly gangly build, his arms and legs noticably long. He usually dresses for comfort more then style, but knows how to make himself look presentable. One will usually see him with his blue jacket, or dark undershirt with a white front open shirt, or a combination of all three depending on the weather.

Kantaro hates people that act too serious. He believes that life is about having fun, and enjoying your time. Because of this, he has developed a kind of self centered side, and will only do things that benefit himself. He is very independant, liking to figure things out on his own. He hates accepting help from others, and rarely thinks about offering it to others, either. Other then being self centered, he's a fairly nice guy. He's usually always smiling, and loves making people laugh. With friends, he likes to tease and poke fun at them, but only does it jokingly. Kantaro loves being the center of attention, often acting like a huge goof just to bring the spotlight to him. He also speaks very loudly naturally. "Indoor voice" doesn't really mean anything to this energetic young adult.

Kentaro's parents were a happy young couple. They were very young young, but very much in love and excited to have their first child and spend the rest of their lives together. Xiyan, a fire bender from the Fire Nation, met her water bender husband, Kannor, while she visited Ba Sing Se. They fell in love almost immedietly and got married, starting a new life in the city. Kannor was from the southern water tribe, and had been living in the city for a few months trying to make money. While Xiyan was about 6 months pregnany, Kannor died in a work accident, leaving the soon to be mother alone. She died giving birth to her son, they say that she didn't look like she had the will to live. Her hearache was what did her in, the doctors thought. The baby was saved and put up for adoption. He lived there until he was 3 years old, when he was adopted by an old man, Teyan, a chi blocker trainer. He had a small academy in Ba Sing Se where he taught Chi Blocking, but felt like he needed something else in his life, and knew that adoption was what he wanted. He raised Kantaro as his own, teaching him Chi Blocking from the age of 6.
At the age of ten, when Kantaro finally showed signs of being a water bender. Teyan put him into formal bending training, knowing a very skilled water bender who was an old friend who could teach him. Kantaro has lived a very comfortable life since. Usually spends most of his time training and spending time with friends. Recently he has become interested in pro bending. He's been looking into getting a team together, and has moved to republic city to try and pursue this. He has been living there for a few months now, but has not found a tram that he works well enough with. He has gotten himself into some trouble with the law during his stay in the city, often doing work for gangs to make money for living.
