KARASU-AKIRA
name: Karasu or "Raven"
gender: (secretly) male
age: 17, nearly 18
element: fire
animal companion: A sleek fire ferret named Chu. She is almost always perched on Karasu's shoulder. Having the typical coloration of a fire ferret, Chu seems extremely average, save the red collar with bells that she is forced to wear outside of the house. This fire ferret is particularly energetic and very affectionate towards Karasu, but tends to strongly dislike other girls (perhaps it's all girls that Chu doesn't like). She's always getting into something and Kar is often trying to find her, or get her out of trouble. It isn't an easy job. Chu has a knack for ending up places she isn't supposed to be and loves to hide beneath discarded clothing, blankets, ect.

hair color: black
eye color: ice blue
skin color: a little on the pale side
overall appearance: Karasu, or Raven as he is commonly called, is a very confusing one... His figure is nothing like most guys', nor is his style of dress, and he makes not just a convincing girl, but a gorgeous one. He never leaves the house without deeming himself perfect - red lips, long lashes, flawless skin, silky hair. His eyes are those of some waterbenders, being a vibrant and intense blue, though his color choices reflect his fire bender status and heritage. Usually wearing dresses, skirts, heels, and jewelry, it's hard to guess that the guy is actually a guy, and hasn't modified himself in any way to seem otherwise. Yes, the eyelashes are real and natural. Whatever effect can't be acheived with makeup is handed over as the job of clothing.

::what I'm thinking
likes: Being noticed and paid attention to, being believed, being accepted, fire bending (and other fire benders), warmth, fire itself, animals, being mysterious, being involved in things...
dislikes: Most people, being ignored, being questioned, being disrespected, being lied to, people who talk too much, weakness, cold, snow, rain...
sexuality: surprisingly, evenly bisexual.
overall personality:
Karasu doesn't... Like people. He'll act as if he does, of course, as he's a spectacular actor. But deep down, he can hardly stand the people he claims to be friends with, and as such is deeply concerned about the direction his life is taking. He's protective of his secret to an almost insane degree, but Kar's sanity is something easily questioned anyways, with his often unprovoked moodswings and relentless pursuit of power. Also, as a result of his somewhat twisted upbringing, Karasu's respect for his bloodline is incredibly biased. It practically revolves around being a fire bender, and as such he finds it easier to relate to and actually like fire benders. But it all comes down to his strange want to be defeated and dominated, which conflicts with many of his other thoughts and may fuel his reckless endangerment and gender crisis. However, he's far from sexist in the usual sense. He is unhappy with himself, his position in life, expectations placed on him, and especially unhappy with the people around him.
::a past to remember
As touched upon above, Karasu's upbringing was questionable at best. His mother was a proud, pure fire bender and his father a meek, timid water bender. All seemed well when Kar, or "Raven" as his parents soon took to calling him, was born. Though the "happy" parents planned many things - other children, pride, perfection - none of those hopes would come true, though it wasn't always clear. Even as a young child, Kar was a unique one. Not particularly egotistic, but not suffering from low self esteem. Not timid, nor outgoing. He was simply there, silent unless speaking his mind, aloof until engaged, but he also came with a biting silver tongue and a wicked disposition. In other words, he was an unnerving, somewhat cruel child, and his parents weren't sure if he was masochistic, sadistic, or both. He hurt the feelings of other children and never laid a finger on them. But never, ever did he harm animals. His constant companion was the family pet, a fire ferret named Kohana. Karasu was calm, composed, and reserved, which made him all the more unpopular among mothers and small children.
And things got worse after puberty, when the calm child suddenly became impossible to control or predict. He lashed out with violent, hateful words and was rarely home as his parents' marriage began to crumble before his every eyes. Kar's mother began ruling her family's life like a tyrant, and while her rebellious son sought power of his own, his father simply took the abuse. Behind his parents' back, Raven began buying and sometimes wearing girl's clothing, all in secret. As his parents finally parted, the "secret" part became not so secret... Karasu ran away to Republic City, fleeing his parents in the Fire Nation, taking with him not a thing but his new clothes, Kohana's daughter Chu, and a few fire bending scrolls. There, he seeks a new life, far from them. Far from his mother's tyrannical, dictating rule. He seeks only happiness, and somebody that understands... But that is proving harder to find than he expected.
