Things were going good. Lao had ended up making a few new companions in Republic City, just as he hoped. There was Narye and Tahlae, both who seemed like interesting individuals. Narye helped him through a tough moment in his day, and in turn, helped Lao get over feeling guilty about a lot of the things from the past. Tahlae, was a woman who was also from the Fire Nation. He seemed pretty intrigued by her and how distant she was. It made him curious about why she acted in such a way, and he found out. There was another person he met, Konei. Though their interaction was brief, he learned quite a bit about the man and opened up a little himself. The main thing that surprised Lao about the non bender, was how well he handled himself against the water bender that they encountered. He wondered if he would be so easily taken down by anyone he came into contact with... and how he's grown out of contact with his bending ability.
This was one of the reasons the man came back to the Fire nation. He knew that he was well out of practice. It had been so long since Lao had someone to seriously have an agni kai with that the man felt his ability to fire bend may have regressed. He also came back home to set Blaze back onto the farm with his mother. He knew that the woman would take good care of him for a month or two while Lao continued to explore the city and delve into its inner workings.
After dropping Blaze off with his mother, Lao packed a duffle bag full of clothes and things for him to eat and headed towards the crescent moon island. Once he arrived, the fire bender found a place near the shore to set up "camp." He made a small tent for himself and packed his bag safely within. Lao walked out onto the beach without a shirt or shoes, just wearing a pair of pants that tightened around his ankle and a head band to tie his hair back into a ponytail. He looked as though someone challenged him to an agni kai, despite being there on his own.
The fire bender sat in front of his tent, his legs crossed and his eyes closed. He rested his hands on his knees and let his shoulders sag in relaxation. He breathed in deeply through his nostrils and out slowly through the same. With each exhalation, streams of smoke left his nostrils, only to be carried away by the wind. He repeated this, trying to get his body to relax before taking in a slightly deeper breath and exhaling through his mouth. He opened his eyes and stood slowly, being careful not to rush his movements right after the deep breathing so he wouldn't get light headed.
Once to his feet, Lao began punching at the air, slowly, controlling each movement. He didn't want to dive into the actual bending aspect just yet, not sure who may be around him at the time.

"We need to stop for the night, I know we are close, but everyone is tired." Kenzin said to the helmsman of the ship. It was a very hot evening for the firebender, as he wanted to relax as well. For business and travel, he came from Omashu. Checking out the city, trying to find sister academies, it was a very delightful time for the old man. Some select students, along with Kenzin, traveled in a private ship with there own crew running and maintaining the ship. He was able to receive funds from the academy for the "field trip". The experience his students gained from traveling and visiting a celebrated Earth Kingdom city was precisely what he wanted.
"Sir, the closet island to us is Crescent Island. It is uninhabited and we do not know if it is safe or not, there is some risk." The navigator for the ship said to Kenzin. He was worried that this might not be safe, but it was the only option they had for rest. "It shall be done, let us land on the Crescent Island, It is our only option."
After about a half an hour of sailing, the ship finally landed on the Crescent Island. Kenzin departed from the ship to experience being on the island, and to touch the ground of where the old Fire Sages used to live. Kenzin did not let his students leave the ship, for he wanted to keep them safe for it was his responsibility.
As he walked around and studied what was around, he spotted a tent, and a man in front of it. Kenzin could not see very well, but the movements of the man looked as so he was a fire bender, but he was not bending. "Sorry to interrupt, what brings you here to this island?" Kenzin approached the tent, caution of the possible events that could happen.

Karura skidded across the sea on her mongoose dragon, Komo. The agile reptile propelled itself across water with precision and focus while Karura thought of the chance encounter she was leaving behind in the Fire Nation capital. The man she had met was a fragment of her past, someone who still presumed to know her, care about her even, although he had chosen a path that had diverged from hers many years past. At first it had angered her, how he tossed forth words that his actions had never supported, how he expressed wishes that were more like dreams – gone the moment he woke up again. Now, she stared at the shredded fringe on Komo’s back with empty eyes.
She had never been able to care about him in the past and nothing had changed over the years. Everything inside her felt cold and observant with a touch of twisted and some days she didn’t even know what motivated her actions. Working for apparently noble causes, stalking the bars at night and losing a few hours in a stranger’s company without intending to follow up on promises of new meetings, wandering through the world in search of answers no one even cared about, what did it all amount to?
Komo reached the rocky shore of Crescent Island, a chunk of rock in the shape of a forming moon. Karura came down from his back, her hand coming across his side, caressing his light scaly skin before she left his presence behind.
While the mongoose dragon curled up on the warm rock to rest from the effort of his trek, Karura wandered aimlessly, giving only brief thought to how she was wasting her time instead of heading directly back to Republic City. It was with surprise that she hid behind the boulder she was coming towards, some distance beyond which voices could be heard. Slumping down to sit on the ground, she pressed her back against the hard rock and just listened to the conversation that was being had. She resolved to think she would eavesdrop a little before heading back.

The young fire bender had just finished a round house when he heard a voice directed towards him. Without lowering his leg, Lao looked over his shoulder at the source of the voice. He blinked for a moment and slowly set his foot back on the ground. Where did he come from? The young man thought as he cleared his throat. "I thought it was going to be pretty barren." Lao's voice was strong and fairly low. It was enough to vibrate one's chest if he spoke loud enough and the other person was close enough to him.
Without a thought, the younger fire bender turned his body completely towards the older gentleman. He didn't want to be taken by surprise by anyone he could meet. The Crescent isle wasn't a place that many people visited and he had to admit, it was suspicious for him to be there as well. "I was going to do a bit of training..." Lao's voice trailed off for a moment before looking the man over, "What about you? Not many people come to this island. Are you a traveler, mister?"
As Lao stood in front of the older man, he felt a bit uncomfortable. He was surprised by the arrival, of course, but he was in front of some stranger without a shirt. Despite being in the fit condition he was, he was a bit self conscious. He spotted a vest that he wore and picked it up, putting it on quickly. Once the garment was on him, Lao crossed his arms over his chest, awaiting the answer from the older man.
((sorry it took me so long to put this up guys.))

The old man was surprised that anyone would even be on the island. He thought for sure him and his crew would be the only humans on the island, but obviously, he was wrong. "So you were training?" Kenzin presumed from the given evidence, the man in front of him was a fire bender. In Kenzin's eyes, this man in front of him certainly looked liked a fire bender, and from previous moves he observed, they resembled the technique of a fire bender.
"You must be a fire bender, correct?" Kenzin paused for a moment, and smirked. "Cause if I am correct, we have something in common." Immediately after the answer, he turned to his right toward the sea. Got in to proper stance, as if he was going in to battle, and quickly launched fire blasts toward the ocean. The area around them instantly became brighter and Kenzin had a more detailed look of his new acquaintance. As the fire died out, Kenzin ignited a flame using his left hand, so the participants of the conversation could see each other, and continue.
"I am here because my crew and I needed to rest, and this island was the closest one on our path. How long have you been here?"
