[shadow=red,left,300]Kana "Aria" Saitou[/shadow]
name: Kana. When she was young her and a few other friends took on 'Trouble Names', or code names. Hers was Aria, and she still responds to it.
age: 19
element: Fire
animal companion: On her ship from the Water Tribe to Republic City, a small White Hamster snuck into her room to share the warmth of her fireplace. Kana fed the almost feline-like creature, and eventually decided to keep it with her. She named the rodent Milah, and it stays with her at all times, usually either in her bag, on her head, in her hair, or on her shoulder. She has also occasionally snuck into Kana's shirt and poked her head out through the hole, much to Kana's amusement.
::looking pretty good
hair color: Brown-Black
eye color: Amber. Looks more Gold in some lighting.
skin color: Tan
overall appearance:
On first glance, Aria looks like your typical Water Tribe girl: Tan skin, dark hair, long, tough limbs. It's her eyes and hair that set her appearance off from those around her growing up. Her eyes are a beautiful amber, matching the fire she bends. Her hair is considerably long, reaching in some places down to her hips. On the left side of her head, she has four cornrows stretching back a short ways. There are also a number of braids and beaded sections of hair falling from behind her left ear.
She has a very striking, beautiful face, with a slightly more oriental look, courtesy of her grandfather.
She is garbed in the blue fabrics and light furs of the water tribe she came from, in the form of a mid-drift showing top, dark blue shorts, and black leggings. There are also two belts around her waist holding up her hood she would occasionally throw on on particularly cold days. Being a fire bender, she often didn't need to be quite as heavily dressed as others around the tribe.

::what I'm thinking
likes: Probending, Fire Ferrets (The animal not the team), Dancing, Cold Weather, Styling her hair, Music, Tea, Sweets
dislikes: Bugs
sexuality: Bisexual
overall personality:
Kana's personality varies on the situation. In general, she's a very calm, collected girl, who seems to almost always have a smug little smirk on her face. Kana's always been known for being rather teasing, and very sarcastic. She's not all teasing and games, though. Particularly when it comes down to bending, she's very serious. Kana is a very intense fighter, but also a very fluid, beautiful one, firebending with the grace of a water bender.
::a past to remember
It was in the last couple years of the Hundred Year War that a young Fire bender by the name of Hisae met the Northern Water Tribe girl by the name of Kato, in the Earth Kingdom, of all places. Neither were completely oblivious to the war going on--in fact, that's quite the opposite. In fact, they wanted the war to end just as much as the Avatar himself. After all, it would be rather peculiar for someone from the Fire Nation to love and marry a Water Tribe girl, when their homes were warring one another.
Needless to say, when the war finally did come to an end, it didn't take the couple long to wed. They moved together back to the Northern Water Tribe, and within a few years, started a family. Together they had two sons, both Water Benders like their mother, and the third child, a girl, with no bending what-so-ever (Much to the surprise of her father, who expected her to be the one to inherit his Fire Bending abilities).
The girl grew up quite normally, becoming a very strong woman, despite her lack of bending in a family full of it. Eventually Kaiya married a fellow non-bender of the Tribe, by the name of Hasoka. Some years later, they had their own daughter.
The daughter, was Kana. Despite neither of her parents being benders, her Grandfather's Firebending flowed through her veins more naturally than her blood, much to the disdain of her own father, and surprise to nearly everyone else of the clan. Her Firebending was, in actuality, a subject of conversation for quite a few years--Partially because there were still some who carried ill feelings towards Fire Benders, and partially because there was no one who could train her in her fire bending. After all, her grandfather had died some time before she was born.
It was those that despised her, and treated her kindly, that made Kana's childhood not quite as happy as those of equal age, water benders and non-benders alike. Some of her friends' parents would look at her and glare, and tell their child they couldn't speak to her.
'She's got bad blood!'
'She's dangerous, that one!'
Over time, even the arguments picked up with her parents. Her own father rarely spoke to her, and once she turned twelve or so, even Kaiya began to treat her differently. Twelve years of sticking up for her daughter and having to protect her began to ware the woman down. "Why can't you just be a normal, non-bender like me? Or a water bender like your grandmother!"
When Kana turned 14, she fell into a gang. The Black Moons. They were a relatively small gang, at first. Just a group of misfits, really. Kids and teens, some orphaned, some not, who were never treated quite right. Kids who never fit in. At first, they'd gotten together under their leader, at the time a 19 year old boy named Kisano, who was the grandson of one of the Chiefs, and the son of a General. They'd gotten together with the plan to prove to everyone that they weren't useless, or weak, or simply failed children. It didn't take long for their goals to twist into something darker.
Soon, all those within the Northern Water Tribe who had treated any of them poorly, started to get hurt. Some would disappear entirely.
In a sense, even Kana disappeared. When she turned 16, she ran away from home to join Kisano. She was no longer Kana, daughter of Kaiya from that point. Now, she was Aria, one of the lead menaces of the gang.
When she was younger, Kana believed all the people they were hurting deserved it. It wasn't until she was a bit older, that it began to sink in just how wrong it all was. She didn't know what to do.
One night, in a panicked haze, she stowed away on a ship, leaving no trace behind, in a sense running away from her life. Running away to Republic City.
