DAKKAR HURONG
::A Mirror...
name: Dakkar Hurong
gender: Male
age: 23
element: Water
animal companion: None
::To See The Face?
hair color: Brown
eye color: Blue
skin color: Tanned
overall appearance:
Unlike most Waterbenders, and more like the warriors of the respective Watertribes, Dakkar is not lithely built, and carries a fairly imposing presence. Standing a head over most, with a fairly well-built body from his upbringing and his method of bending, he stands out rather easily. His hair, the brown of Water Tribe, is fairly short, though just long enough to get in his eyes, thus he often wears a headband to keep it out of his vision. His clothing style of choice is the Watertribe warm-weather wear, though he will put on an undershirt in colder weather. However, given that he hasn't purchased any new outfits in quite some time, the edges on his shoulders are quite frayed.

likes: Bending, a good brawl, women, physical work, meat, being able to show off, family(especially eldest brother)
dislikes: Arrogance(without skill to back it up), using Bending for own means(i.e. Stealing), intention to maim, liars, two-faced people, vegetables
sexuality: Straight
overall personality:
Despite Dakkar's mildly imposing appearance, for the most part he's actually quite calm and laid-back. Fond of a good practical joke and the occasional scuffle, Dakkar is something of a good ol' boy, which has much to do with how he was raised. In most situations, having lived in Republic City for a few years, Dakkar is able to avoid the 'back country' stereotype, but there are times when it comes through, indicating the fact that he really isn't all that refined. It's also representative of his intelligence, as though he's far from an idiot, there are several things that he simply lacks the knowledge about, and that tends to show up at the worst times, for him.
Though he is often calm and placid...like the ocean, if something actually drives Dakkar to a point in which he is angry (a truly epic feat, to be sure,) he is quite a formidable force. In his memory, this has only happened twice, but both times required his brother to stop him. He was remorseful after these episodes, and has since tried to keep a cool head at all times.
::To Reflect Upon The Past?
Dakkar's father, a warrior from the Southern Watertribe, had assisted in several of the trade routes as a guard to the ships that traveled between the South and the Earth Kingdom. While there was relative peace abound with the advent of Avatar Aang and King Zuko, there were still those on the seas who tried to make a profit from unprotected cargo. In that time, he traveled to the Earth Kingdom many times and, when he had reached his thirties, decided that he preferred the warmer climate there to what he had back home. Thus, with not much more than his own meager possessions, he bid his people farewell to start a new life in the Earth Kingdoms.
The man ended up in a small farming village on the outskirts, and did odd jobs for townsfolk, who repaid him by assisting him build a dwelling. During this time, the man met a female Earthbender who was the daughter of the owner of the village's general store. Given the fact that he had helped out the store owner on more than one occasion and had shown himself to be an honest, upstanding fellow, he was given permission to court the woman, and in time, the two fell in love and were married. He was an idealist and she a realist, but they fit each other perfectly.
Soon, their first son was born, Theran, who held the eyes of an Earthbender, very much like his mother. And indeed, as the boy grew, it was rather obvious he had a knack for it, and excitedly learned from his mother every chance he got. The boy was a dreamer, much like his father, but kept enough sense in his head to keep from getting into too much trouble. In time, their second child, Kera, was born. Like her brother, the girl also showed some talent in Earthbender, but far less than her brother and mother, and given that she had somehow managed to be a girly-girl in that environment, most of what she used her Earthbending for was to keep dust off of herself.
And then, after a third try, Dakkar was born. As soon as the child opened his eyes, his father was happy to see the bright blue, rather than the green the other two children had. Not to say he didn't love them, but having a child take after him was something that he very much had hoped for. However, as Dakkar grew, it became noted that the boy was able to Waterbend, if only a little. This caused a slight stir, as none in the family before had been able to, not to mention there was no one to teach him. However, they did what they could, his father teaching him what he remembered from the benders back home, and his mother passing along the basic knowledge of bending.
However, during one bout of frustration in attempting to Waterbend, Dakkar stomped his foot, as he had often seen his mother and siblings do, and the water he had been trying to manipulate turned to ice. Blinking, the boy wasn't sure what he'd done, but from there, followed some of what he remembered seeing his brother do for Earthbending...and was delighted when the ice reacted as the stone did. In time, Dakkar began to practice Icebending, using Earthbending as a basis and changing things slightly when certain movements didn't work as well.
As they grew, he and his brother broke many hearts around the village, but eventually found that they longed for something...more. When Dakkar turned eighteen, they appealed to their parents, wanting to move out to Republic City. Though their mother was against it, their father understood the need, and allowed them to go, but anything they wanted to bring had to be theirs. The two then set out to help around the village, earning whatever they could.
Once they'd saved enough to live on for a little while, the two went to Republic City, finding a cheap place to rent while they did what they could to find employment. It was hard at first, but now, Theran is the teacher at an introductory Earthbending dojo, with his and Dakkar's rooms above it. Dakkar does some work where he can find it, but mostly is interested in getting into the Pro-Bending circuit. Still, his Waterbending is not as proficient as he would like, though he has been taking some lessons with a teacher in Republic City, and doesn't feel he'd make the cut. But his Icebending is fairly top-notch, able to compete on even terms with his brother.
Now, he feels, he just needs to find his destiny.
