Qiang is commonly described as a stalwart man of duty and a stubborn. There are hardly any times in his life where he backs down from a challenge or anything that he believes.
Qing tends to have a "two strike" system with everyone he meets. He tends to be nice to a person the first time they meet, but if they cross the line with him twice, he tends to treat them as though they were sentenced guilty in the most heinous crimes he could think of.
::a past to remember[/font]
Qing believes himself to be an ordinary man, from ordinary beginnings. He was born the Earth Kingdom and spent most of his childhood there. He showed early signs of being an earth bender, being able to cause small tremors and fissures whenever he would cry and throw tantrums as a toddler. His parents were middle class citizens in Ba Sing Se, enabling Qing to go to a 'better' school than most of the citizens and be taught earth bending by a formal dojo.
When Qing reached his teenage years, his parents decided for them to move to Republic City. He protested at first, wanting to stay in the Earth Kingdom where he was 'free to bend at will.' His father slowly talked him out of it, and they moved as a whole family unit within days. When they got to the city, Qing's father put in an application to be a part of the police force, explaining to Qing that it was in their blood, pointing out that his father was one of the Dai Li agents for Ba Sing Se, before they were disbanded. This caused Qing to question his grandfather a little, having learned that the Dai Li became a corrupt organization. Needless to say, it didn't take long for him to forgive his grand father.
A few years went by and Qing watched as his father became part of the metal bending police force. He was a bit disappointed that the man who raised him wasn't around as much because of his job and his parents took note of it very quickly. To make up for this, his father made a deal to finish Qing's earthbending instruction personally and, when he was ready, begin teaching him how to metal bend. The years went by and Qing didn't receive one lesson in metal bending; however, his father taught him extensively with earth bending. Qing's favorite lesson was learning the technique that earned his father the nickname "Mole" back in the earth kingdom. This became Qing's trademark as well and his friends called him "The Drill." Whether this was an affectionate nickname or them teasing him for using the old technique, Qing was never sure.
Qing reached his twenties successfully. Life was going good for him and his parents were still around. He took on much more responsibility, taking jobs whenever he could to try and take some of the stress off of his parents. His most common job was making and testing the clay disks which were starting to be used in the upcoming sport Probending. Qing used this as an opportunity to learn more about the more modern styles of bending in Republic City, sticking around as some of the professional benders practiced. He noticed the different earth bending technique. He was a bit appalled at how different it was from what he learned while he was younger. Privately he would practice this on his own, surprisingly liking it.
Two years passed, and Qing was talked into joining the police force by his father. He went through the trials with flying colors, having had an idea of what was necessary from listening to his father over the years. His metal bending lessons were... complicated for him. He didn't think it would be as stressful, but metal bending was difficult for him to get a grasp of. His earth bending came second nature and he didn't really know what it was to work to master an art like metal bending. Despite each failure, Qing went back to his training with a 'murderous' intent. One day while he was out sparring with his father, Qing found himself stopping his father's wires from reaching him a good three feet away. It came as a shock to both of them that he just did so out of nowhere.
The next day, Qing went back for his police force trials, passing the metal bending portion and finally was granted the permission to don the metal uniform. Unfortunately, his celebration was brief. His mother passed away and his mood was became less cheerful for the next month. When he found himself successfully arresting a gang member.
His next few arrests came from other gang members. He got scolded by his father after each one for being reckless. He charged out front blindly and took the brunt of the barrages of elements of each of his, how he addressed them, 'marks.' His squad mates started to call him "bull" or "tank" in reaction to his early methods. Eventually his father talked some sense into him, letting him know that the procedures the Police Force went by ensured maximum safety and efficiency of arrests.
Qing's father passed on Qing's thirtieth birthday. It was a day that Qing sat around his home, moping. Needless to say the man was crushed, feeling that he was now alone in Republic City. In light of his father's passing, Qing found comfort in his work. He dedicated the bulk of his day to patrolling the city, taking on an extra shift usually and making sure he would just have time to eat and sleep. This carried on for a year, causing Qing to lose a lot of friends.
He eventually let his sorrow subside, and took up hobbies that he dropped long ago. Now he pays more attention to Pro bending and practicing his earth and metal bending. He has also started to allow himself to start making friends with others he may meet in his daily rounds.
