So this is coming up more and more, and I thought I'd address the canon story for what's going on with the Equalists in the storyline of this RP. This way everyone has something to refer to if talking about Equalists or Chiblockers, that sort of thing.
- The Equalists do exist, obviously. However they are not as well known as they are in the show right now. If you say the name 'Equalist', people might recognize the name, but it will be like "Oh, those people that hate benders?" Because they aren't a big deal yet.
- Chiblockers also exist. I'd like to remind you all of Ty Lee. She was a Chi-blocker. The style has been around a long time. In the roleplay, the Chi-blockers are also known, though not yet necessarily connected to the Equalists. For now, it's just a 'fighting style', however one that might raise brows and tilt heads.
- Obviously Amon exists, but again, not many people know him. Chances are, even some 'Equalists' don't know him.
- In general, the Equalists are weaker, and smaller at this point. If you remember back to the beginning of Korra, the Equalists hadn't started making themselves known and truly gaining power, notoriety, and in general, members, until after their initial attack and Amon's message.
So basically, saying 'Equalists' will not incite a riot. In fact, the only thing that might start a riot is saying you belong to the Triple Thread Triad, Agni Kai, or Red Monsoons. They're what's getting the attention in this time-span.
Until it's told otherwise in Legend of Korra, this is the story we're going with!
