Moonlight trickled down to dapple the streets of Republic City. A figure moved through the streets swiftly, her ever action controlled and silent. It was fairly obvious she didn’t want to be seen. She wore a cloak with tattered ends that had obviously seen better days, and metal armor as if expecting a fight. She wasn’t, at least not more so than she did on any given day. She made her way through the city easily, and each step brought her brunette ever-closer to her destination. The scenery made a notable change as she moved into the Tiger Flats District. It sent a cold chill coursing down her spine as memories churned within her mind. She’ left this place in a hurry once before, and as she had fled the city she had grasped her first taste of freedom.
There was something which had always bothered her through the years of peace. He was alive, and that meant he could still be hunting for her. She’d traveled back to the city to see if her former master still haunted the place, curious if his miserable stain had faded, or if it would become an eternal mark on the otherwise attractive place.
Araxi drew near a walled home, large and opulent. This was the one. She had managed to get herself out of these walls once, and now… Now she was about to enter them again. It caused her lips to peel back from her teeth in a sort of snarl, before she got herself back under control. Her hand snaked to her back however, and her fingertips brushed over the handle of the dagger sheathed out of sight. She took a moment to think, her body pressed against the wall in the shadows and all but invisible. She moved with no hesitation when she shoved herself off the wall, and jumped. Her fingers clawed to find holds and pulling herself up over the ledge, and she dropped back down the other side, landing in a crouch from the six-and-a-half foot height of the wall.
Even this late, there were still lights on inside, though they were dim and flickering. Perhaps someone had left a few candles burning when they went to bed. It never occurred to Araxi to check behind her at this point. She'd managed to make it most of the way here without seeing single soul on the streets so it seemed almost crazy to think she might have been followed. Crazy might have worked in her favor though.

Cloaked in a simple black shirt and slacks, Remis crouched on top of the slaveholder's residence. His mission here was rather simple tonight; all that was required of the spy was that he find (and transcribe) the banking records of his target. It was surprising to learn that an enterprising slave master had made his home in Republic City without being noticed, but Remis had seen his fair share of questionable people move into this city without so much as a whisper of disapproval. It was amazing what money could do to keep one out of trouble.
He had been on top of this roof for about five minutes as he casually scouted the area. For being a criminal, the property owner was rather lax about his security. There were only two guards that marched around the perimeter of the household, and only a single other man assigned to keep watch inside the house. The slaveholder didn't fancy having many lights in his yard at night; that convenient fact had made it very easy for the adept parkour user to scale the man's house with little to no worry of being seen. All-in-all, Remis felt confident about tonight's setting. There had been no complications, no violent transgressions or sounding of alarms... Not even a dog to bark when the spy had ran across the yard.
When the hidden man saw another intruder hop over the six-and-a-half foot walls, he almost cursed out loud. Of course this couldn't go as simple as planned. However, how was he supposed to deal with this new obstacle? There was no doubt in his mind that this... woman?... yes, a woman... would interpret Remis' presence as yet another foe. He decided to lay down on his belly in order to minimize his chances of being spotted- the severe lack of moonlight and abnormal amount of clouds overhead did well to keep him hidden.
It wasn't very common for two criminals to venture into the same territory on the same night. This was an even more improbable event given the location of the residence- this wasn't some lowlife district where people just broke into homes to steal things. This was the home of the people who were much better off in Republic City. Either this woman was very daring or very stupid- the spy reminded himself the two weren't mutually exclusive. No matter what the case, he would have to take special care to avoid this idiot.
Well look at that! A guard is coming around the corner tight now... I do hope this woman knows to not get caught. I really do not want to have to kill them both.

Footfalls ahead alerted her to the presence of someone, and the water bender halted as she tilted her head, peering through the darkness. Guards, most likely. Her eyes shifted left and right, seeking a good place to hide, and discovering there wasn't much cover, save pressing oneself against the wall so close you scrapped yourself. Slinking over the ground as low as she possibly could she made her way to the wall and crept along beside it, her eyes pinned on the guards the entire time as she waited to see if they would notice her. It seemed luck was in her favor for now.
She paused when they were close, holding her breath and waiting for them to continue on their way or find her. She was certain for a moment she actually would be caught, and forced to either kill or injure the guards. They carries on though, after stopping near her for a momentary bathroom break. Men were so disgusting sometimes.
Once they were gone, she resumed movement, now aware of guards and so keeping much more alert. She'd been lucky once, but the odds of a second round were probably slim. Steadily she moved until she was close enough to the house to seek out a window or door to enter through. She couldn't see any left open, but she didn't have time to sit around and wait for someone to do her a favor. Glancing around to make sure she had time, she darted forward and to the house, rolling up beneath a window and pausing for a second to listen for any noise.
Seemed like she was alright. She rose just enough to peer in the window, into a storage room which appeared to have no person within. She gave the bottom of the window a gentle nudge to see if it would slide up or not, and found it locked. Well that wasn't entirely shocking. He was a wealthy man after all, and wealthy people needed to protect their assets. She had the strangest feeling though, as if being watched. It was making her uneasy. No one knew she had come here, no one had followed her, and no one (to her knowledge) has spotted her once she'd entered the grounds.
Wanting to get in as quickly as possible, she pulled out her dagger and wedged it under the window. It groaned, but didn't break. She gave a firm downward smack to the pommel, and the window popper free with minimal noise. Enough that she was going to need to hurry though. Crap crap crap. Maybe if she was lucky the guards were on the other side of the house, and wouldn't hear... She gently pulled the window free and slipped into the room, doing her best to set the window back in to appear, at a glance, as if it were normal.

[Sorry! I have to cut back on my threads. ^^;]
Remis sighed. Of course she couldn't take the guard out, or get caught, or just leave the premise. No, she had to go ahead and lurk around the house doing whatever it is she was going to do. The options here were few and far between- he could either leave and venture into this territory another night, or he could stay and risk causing one hell of a ruckus due to the stupidity of another, most likely untrained, individual.
It was not a terribly hard decision for the young man to make. Remis inhaled deeply as he turned his green orbs toward the luminescent sky. Perhaps there was a reason for him to not complete his mission tonight. Perhaps there was some higher power guiding him, something to lead his way so that he may move on to bigger and better things.
Rather, I'm just being lazy.
And off into the night he went.
