hair color: Brown
eye color: Off-white
skin color: Fair
overall appearance: Jian is a little on the short side for most guys his age, but he doesn't really care much for that. Also, despite his love for food he's still relatively lean. He keeps short, shaggy hair.
Seeing as he's blind, he doesn't really care much for his appearance, but know it's important to look at least a little presentable for those that can see him. Though this usually isn't much of a problem, seeing as he's usually wearing his Air Acolyte clothing. When he's not wearing his robes though, he's usually wearing something simple like a loose fitting shirt and shorts, footwear varying from sandals, slippers or just barefooted.

overall personality: Despite being blind, Jian is an incredibly cheerful and energetic person, almost always having a smile on his face and even jokes about his blindness. This does not mean he's an airhead or particularly optimistic, though, being quite capable of sarcasm and optimism on the pessimistic side. His being blind also does not mean that he's completely useless when it comes to taking care of himself. He loves walking around with his Polar dog and going on small 'adventures' together.
He's also a pretty touchy person, finding enjoyment in touching anything he can get his hands on. Including people, if they allow him to go that far. He loves meeting and talking to people in general and would never purposely upset them, or want to make them uncomfortable. Also, for all his joking around he does show respect when respect needs to be given.
Despite his cheery attitude, push him long and hard enough and he will snap. He can sense the air around him well enough to fight, though he's no expert at it. Not to mention, get on his bad side and you get on Nan's bad side. He takes no pleasure in being angry or fighting, though.
::a past to remember[/font]
Jian was born in Republic City from a Waterbender father and non-bender mother. Even as a child he never let his blindness get the best of him. When his parents tried to keep him home where they thought he'd be safe from hurting himself, he just charged out of the house when they weren't looking long enough, not caring one bit that he couldn't see. It was exactly because of this behaviour of his that they decided to get him an Polar dog at the age of six to look after him so he didn't get himself into any dangerous situations. They also made him take self-defense classes, seeing as he didn't seem to have inherited his father's waterbending, and if their son would walk around as if he weren't blind, he could learn to defend himself.
At the age of sixteen Jian had taken a rather unusual interest in the Air Acolyte lifestyle and everything it meant. Well, unusual for his parents, seeing as they didn't think it was something their energetic son would find an interest in. When he asked if he could become an Acolyte himself, both parents agreed, thinking that he'd be safe for sure with them, and maybe that becoming an Air Acolyte would help mellow him out a bit. No such luck in that area, though. He has become calmer since becoming an Acolyte, but he's still the same energetic Jian that tends to get himself in messes all the same.
If asked what exactly prompted him to want to become an Air Acolyte he'd most likely answer because their lifestyle intrigued him, and that being part of something that almost doesn't exist makes him feel like he's helping with something. Though if he were being perfectly honest, it was mostly because of the different people, bender and non-bender alike that were all Acolytes and being in such close proximity with so many people without having to worry about his own well-being too much played the biggest role. Either way, he does not regret his decision and enjoys it to the fullest.
