ZHILAN SHIHONG
name: Zhilan Shihong
gender: Female
age: 20
element: Fire
animal companion: Summa, a light brown pygmy puma. She has two black marks on either side of her nose, with a flash of white running from her maw to her abdomen. She is small, but due to mostly being an outside animal, she is very healthy and energetic. She feels a bit heavy, due to her muscle mass. Summa doesn't care for strangers, and will often hiss or bite at them. If they persist, she may allow them to pet her, but it all depends on how she feels about it. No matter how much Zhilan may try to get her to behave, she follows her own will.

hair color: Charcoal black hair color here
eye color: Yellow
skin color: Cream
overall appearance:
A bit on the taller side at 5'9", Zhihon stands high and proud as a fire bender in Republic City. She takes great pride in her heritage, wearing shades of deep red and gold. Her long dark hair is tied back in a long, heavy braid that hangs down just below her shoulders. Several stray hairs and a longer, slightly curled strand hang over her left eye and the side of her face.
Her blond eyes are always calm and watchful, with long, thin eyelashes and a red eyeshadow. She has a thin nose right in the middle of her face, with high cheekbones and a narrow chin. Her lips, too, are thin, with a pale pink shade to them.
Her body is rather average, though Zhilan secretly laments her lack of a bottom.

overall personality:
Zhilan is a bit difficult to describe. She has a calm exterior, frequently with a soft smile over her lips. She seems like a woman that enjoys life quietly and by herself, not needing to display to everyone brazenly. She enjoys tea as well as sweets and painting, and she considers herself a cultured and intelligent young woman.
Yet on the other hand, she has an extreme distrust of Earthbenders, and in fact treats them like garbage. She does not speak to them cruelly on the surface- instead making offhanded comments about their lack of civility, or their brutish nature. She has never met an Earthbender that she has liked, and because of this, she does not exactly answer politely to the Police Department of Republic City. She detests Earthbenders of any kind and will often fight with one she may see without provocation.
She has no hate for other benders, or even non-benders. She will treat them cordially, though she may perhaps speak down to them when they don't meet her "standards" of culture. She considers Firebenders to be the best, choosing to ignore all the wrongs her people performed in the One-Hundred Year War.
She has a great interest in Pro Bending, but considering she is only an average Firebender and does not practice or meditate very often, she doubts she could ever be of extreme use to a team.
::a past to remember[/font]
When she was young, Zhilan remembers her grandfather telling her a story from his wheelchair. It was the story of the Invasion of the Fire Nation, and how the enemy's forces, among them the Avatar, brought the Firelord and the prospering nation down to a mere shell of its former self. In the battle, her grandfather's body had been crushed behind large rocks displaced from invading Earthbenders, causing him to get one of his legs and an arm amputated. He had only been a young boy.
The story stuck with Zhilan. She studied all her books, and no matter how she read it, the Fire Nation had been suppressed by the other nations. They had been forced to give up Ba Sing Se and several other settlements in the Earth Kingdom so their brutish and cruel people could be happy.
Her naive understanding of her own culture was fostered by her family, who harbored the same amount of resentment for the Earth people. Her grandfather in particular told her stories of all the times he had been wronged by them. It angered her; she wanted to do something about it, but sadly, the war was over. There was nothing she could do.
Her life in Republic City has been an average one; it was discovered when she was about six that she could Firebend, just like her parents and grandparents before her. When she was younger, she trained often, wanting to show off the true power of a Firebender, but as she grew older she began to calm down, growing an appreciation for the finer arts such as painting and tea. She lives with her grandfather, her parents and her younger sister, Mai Lin.
She has grown a sudden interest in Pro Bending after her father took her to one of the matches. Though it disgusted her to see Firebenders brought onto the stage with Earthbenders on the same team, she saw it as an invigorating and lively sport. She contemplates searching for a team of her own to join, but she simply refuses to force herself to come into contact with the grubby and dirty Earthbenders.
