eye color: Amber

overall appearance:
Kai is an athletic young man, with the body to go along with it. He stands at six feet and four inches tall, and he weighs in at one hundred ninety-eight pounds. His weight mostly comes from muscle. Due to his long limbs and height, Kai's body isn't as stocky as it could be, but it is well toned. His skin has tanned after the years of working on his grandparents' farm and living out in the country side of the republic, instead of the big city. Kai has one tattoo, the element symbol of fire on his back. The only thing about his appearnce that his grandparents know about and did not agree with is his hairstyle. He wairs his black hair into the style of dread locks, with a few highlighted with red.
When he is working on the farm, he usually just wears a vest and a pair of pants with boots. However, when he goes into the city he dresses like a completely different person: he wears a formal shirt, that is usually tucked in to his pants, with a sash over his waist, and light shoes. He also tights his hair back into a ponytail, with the exception with a few of the dreads towards the front.

likes: Wine, conversation, training, meditation, and food...loves food.
dislikes: arrogance, disrespect of elders, people who take advantage of others, and those who have no intention of keeping their word.

overall personality:
At first glance, Kai is a very quiet and reserved man. He doesn't initiate conversation with other often, but when he does, he puts forth an effort to make it worth his while. Having been seperate from the city for most of his life, Kai decided to try to pry himself out of his shell as he meets people so most of the time he feels awkward when walking up to someone. While he tries to make conversation with other, Kai tends to be more of the listener, learning as much about the other person as he can.
Aside from his "social skills", Kai is a very hard worker. He was raised with older morals and values, being raised mostly by his grandparents. He also tends to refer to people, especially older men and women, as "Mr.", "Ms.", or "Mrs." respectfully.
::a past to remember[/font]
When Kai was born, there were no big ideas planned for him, or expected from him. Neither of his parents were benders and at first they thought the same about him. Kai was named by his grandfather after his great-grandfater. In contrast to his parents, Kai's grandfather could see the boy's potential in his eyes.
Kai came from a long line of soldiers and he was raised as such. When he was five, his father started to teach him about the ways of self defense as he returned from school every day. Unfortunately, Kai's father became sick and passed at an unusually young age. Kai's mother couldn't deal with the loss emotionally and was in just a deep rut as Kai was. Then, his grandparents' came to the rescue. They took Kai and his mother into their home and helped them until Kai was able to support his mother.
During his time in his grandparents' home, Kai learned about the old days: the war, the way of bending, and stories about the Avatar Aang. He was shocked and almost heart-broken, hearing about the things his sweet, loving grandfather did to the people of the other nation's during that time. He felt no remorse to the man though, as the stories were told, Kai could see the pain and conflicted emotions in his grandfather's eyes and hugged him after every story. Needless to say, Kai developed a very close relationship with his grandfather.
One day when Kai returned home from school, he was greeted by his mother with tears streaming down her face. At first he thought something was wrong until she told him about knowing his secret. The rest of that day, his head was down and Kai would not look his mother in the eye, almost ashamed that she knew. That weekend he was confronted by his grandfather. The old veteran expressed how he should not be ashamed of his ability to firebend because of the stories he was told. Kai nodded, and asked his grandfather to teach him how to control his bending abilities, which the old man agreed to without hesitation.
The years went by and the boy turned in to a man. Taking on larger work loads on his grandfather's farm and learning how to firebend like the old soldiers of the Great War. As he turned eighteen, he spoke to his mother and grandfather about a tattoo, which his mother quickly disagreed with, but his grandfather said "you are a young man now, do as you please." The next week, Kai decided to change his hairstyle, which his grandfather feverently protested, but his mother followed up smugly with "you are a young man now, do as you please."
Time went by and Kai's grandparents passed away, leaving him and his mother with the farm. Once Kai became the age of twenty his mother pulled strings for him to get a job in Republic City and find an apartment. When he turned them down initially so that he could stay and see after her, she kicked him out of the house with a smile. He knew what he plan was and he no longer fought her wishes. He moved into the apartment in the city and worked at the factory, occasionally going to visit her and Blaze.
