( Referenced Thread) I met a young man named in Lao in the park, after a mildly successful attempt at holding my last period class in Republic Park. He was a Fire Bender, and he had some baggage. Though for a young man, he carried it well from what I saw, and even asked for a bit of a history lesson regarding the Fire Nation to assuage some of his inherited guilt. I wish more young people his age did that. I know that a lot has happened with the world in the last few decades, and the century before that, but that's all behind us now. Or mostly, anyway. All these old resentments need to be forgotten or forgiven. At least the younger kids, like the ones I teach, don't harbor much, if any, of those old prejudices. That makes me hopeful. Lao has my phone number. When he gets into the Pro-Bending game, I hope he remembers to give me a call so I can see him in the arena. Maybe I should have asked him for tickets too.

( Referenced Thread) Wow, uh, THAT was different. First, I get commissioned to teach some classes to the young Acolytes on Air Temple Island, which was pretty good as it was. I've never been there and I get paid a bit extra to teach there. But then I met a wonderful Acolyte named Zian. He's much different than I had pictured the Acolytes, talkative and generally very energetic. I guess they're only Monk-like during their meditations. The best part though? I got to take a nice ride on his Sky Bison, Bao! I got to fly through the sky and see the City as only few can! It was an enlightening and, frankly, amazing experience. I knew the City was huge, and everyone can get a sense of its immense size by looking up at all the buildings. But I doubt they just realize the... bigness and expansiveness of Republic City until they've seen it sprawl across the landscape from where the zeppelins are. It really gave me a sense of how everything kind of fits together.
