::a past to remember[/font]
Nineteen years ago, a man named Kenta Shuta came to the Southern Water Tribe after his father returned from the Southern Water Tribe. His father had been one of the people who went to help rebuild many years ago and Kenta had stayed in the Northern Tribe to help his family. When his father returned, Kenta went, but not to help rebuild, to make a life. Kenta was a strong waterbender and when he came to the tribe he quickly fell in love the a young woman named Yama who had been born and raised in the southern water tribe. After a year of courting the young lady, they finally got married and moved to the outskirts of the large southern water tribe before they found that they we’re pregnant with their first child, Leah Ann Shuta.
Before the child was born, they moved up to Republic City so that the child would be raised around other benders and go to a good school. As the child grew, she remember seeing Avatar Aang not long before he passed away and it made her very said when he passed away, as it made most the city sad. When she started school, she met some wonderful people, mostly her best friends. One of her best friends was a fire bender, the other was an earth bender and the last was a non-bender. They were all best friends and they protected one another. As they got older, they started going around the city more and more on their own, dueling each other with their bending and even wanting to become a team in the Probending arena.
It was when Leah was thirteen years old that she had a terrible accident. As she was out in the streets with her friends, some thugs came to make them leave. When they didn’t, it made the older kids angry and they began to bend against the young kids. Leah was prepared, or so she thought, until a sharp rock came and cut her cheek on her right side. Her earth bender friend came to the rescue and protected Leah until she was able to put her bleeding under control. Soon, they police where there and the kids were lucky to have a witness who said they were defending themselves against the thugs. Leah’s mother and father were very upset with her and told her never to go near that part of town again, which only made Leah upset since her best friends lived in the area.
When Leah was sixteen, her mother and father were killed in a fire that had consumed their home. Leah tried to save them, but they were unable to. The fire was started by a thief who had been caught and who used fire bending to escape only to end up killing others in the process of escaping. Leah was now an orphan, but she had her friends who gave her a place to stay and when they all turned seventeen, the four friends all stayed together and got their own place.
