overall appearance: Mai has a slim build with delicate features. Her waist and hips are narrow though she does have a full bust though not overly so. She has no major scaring with the exception of one marking that she can't remember it's purpose. Her hair is short and often braided up the sides of her head to create a faux hawk. She has large eyes that taper into an almond shape She is most commonly seen in her cropped kimono top, tights and slitted pants. She also wears a very thick cloak with a fur trip that gathers around her to hide her petite form. The hood is used to keep her face hidden in public.

likes: lMai prefers the night for it's colder temperature and the moon for it's peaceful feeling. She likes her solitude with the exception of Soru.

Mai is very quiet and shy to most those around her, however when pushed to fight she will not hesitate long in fighting back. Due to past events she can be perceived as cold and uncaring when in fact she is loving, affectionate and never wishes harm to anyone. Though she is a dancer, she feels more like a wallflower, not wanting to be the center of the attention. She is very studious in her time and even though she hates that she has to dance, she learned to do it the best, this element of Mai is clear in many other aspects of her life such as her bending or determination to be free.

Mai has very little memory of her life before slavery. She was taken from her bed in the night when her father failed to pay off a gambling debt which he owed to an earth bender. Mai has since repressed the memories of watching her family burn alive in a fire as their home was burnt down while she was taken away. For the last 14 years she has learned to serve others as a dancer and entertainer. She dances for money and in turn is allowed to stay in an attic above the dancing halls until she is called upon. Mai is allowed to walk the streets when she isn't meant to perform but it isn't really freedom. While in public she knows the slave owners are watching her carefully, she is never truly left alone unless locked away in the attic.
For years, unbeknownst to her captures, she has been learning the art of water bending. What little she knew as a child has grown and allowed her to reach a superior control. In secret she mastered another technique, blood bending. Having yet to try it on a human, Mai is waiting for a chance to escape before trying this technique.
