NARYE MATSUYA
name: Narye
gender: Male
age: 39
element: Non Bender
animal companion: None
::looking pretty good
hair color: Black
eye color: Green
skin color: Light brown
overall appearance:
If there's one thing that summarizes Narye, it's that he's often mistaken for someone ten years younger than he actually is. His hair is black, worn slightly long, just to his neck. His face youthful, but with the strong jawline of an older gentleman. Depending on the time of day that you catch him, there might be a bit of stubble on his face too. Striking green eyes are often the first thing people notice about him; they're kind and smiling. Growing up a farm boy and working physical labor most of his life, Narye has developed a body that is not simply "toned", but very muscular and very well defined, "ripped". Such a body build along side a six foot frame creates an imposing silhoette that contrasts is usually gentle nature.
The "Yang" half of the Yin-Yang symbol is tattooed a few inches below and to the left of his belly button, usually peeking above the waist hem of his pants. As for his manner of dress, Narye prefers to mix his simplisitc rustic fashion with the new fashions that are coming out of Republic City. Typically, that boils down to simple brown trousers, a dress shirt, and a vest. He's not a hat person, so don't expect hi to be wearing one.

overall personality:
Narye is thoughtful, caring, and a little sarcastic. Growing up on a farm has, no pun intended, cultivated a laid back and utlitatian personality. Now don't take that to mean that Narye is a quiet man, in fact that is quite the opposite. Narye is an extroverted soul whom loves to talk and get to know people, and the charm and wit to back it up. An even tempered man, he is slow to anger and even when impassioned by something, he tries to take the time to think it through and take a more diplomatic approach. Of course, that's not to say his passions can't be inflamed. He's been through a lot already, and courage is a side-effect of that. Then there are times when his more youthful side can come out, crazy, reckless, and harried.
However, underneath all of that, Narye is, in a word, lonely. Having no family living with him, and after the passing of his wife, Narye has found a hole in his heart that is seemingly impossible to fill. Having sowed his wild oats when he was younger, he hasn't even felt the feminine touch in the years since his wife's death, leaving him frustrated, emotionally and physically. The courage he shows is sometimes laced with fear and doubt, and the genuine care he shows female friends can be dusted with hints of lust. Narye is not a perfect man, but he tries.
::a past to remember
Narye was born on a farm in a rural outside of Republic City. He usually says he was born to a single father, but that is not entirely true. When he was born, he did have a mother and father, obviously, and when he was about three years old, his mother left. His father often described it as very sudden. One day he woke up and found a note for him reading, "This just isn't the life for me. I'm sorry. Don't come looking for me." Narye was too young to remember this event, or even what his mother looked like. Despite that, his father tried to raise the boy as best as he could, and he did well considering what Narye would grow up to be like.
Narye was indeed a hard worker, a reflection of his father, however he was also... a wild child. In his adolescence, Narye was prone to sneaking out at night to whatever his friends were doing or just to cause some trouble. Combine that with raging hormones and a body crafted by field work... lets just say he was popular with the girls and his father would occasionally have to bail his son out of trouble after a girl's father found him. But no matter how much trouble he got into, Narye and his father remained close.
Then one day when he was eighteen, something happened that he thought would never happen: He fell in love. He fell in love with a city girl named Yumi Miki, whom was living out in the country in a big new home that had been built recently. It wasn't exactly a storybook meeting. Narye had actually put the moves on her like any other girl and, after their first *ahem* meeting, he found himself unable to just end it like that. His heart called out to her like no other, and he tentatively tried to start a real relationship with her. Yumi was happy to do so. Her straight-laced, proper personality apparently was a perfect match for his down-to-earth and wild attitude.
Needless to say, they fell in love together. Narye's father was proud that Yumi was settling Narye down and tempering his youthful nature. Yumi's father, while stern, expected Narye to treat her right and gave them his blessing. Yumi's mother... not so much. Despite that, they eventually got married and started living together. They had a daughter named Chiru, and all seemed well and good.
Then, one night, Narye came home to an empty home. No Yumi. No Chiru. He panicked, ran out into the streets yelling their names. Nothing. For weeks he searched, calling in every bit of help he could and getting the word out. Still nothing. They had seemingly disappeared. The two things that meant the most to him in the world were gone. For three years now, Narye has lived in Republic City without his loved ones. His daughter would have sixteen by now. Now he just goes about his life, teaching at a nearby school, and hopes that the hole in his heart eventually closes.
