Skamar Zapa
name: Skamar T. Zapa. Some of his friends have tried their hand at abridging his name. The results are usually insulting like skeeze or scam.
gender: Male.
age: Seventeen.
element: Water.
::looking pretty good
hair color: Dark auburn, lightly dyed with purplish hues.
eye color: Blue.
skin color: Dark Olive.
overall appearance:
Weighing a little below the average, Skamar has always possessed an average heighted, slender figure. Most reckon that he’s the wholesome combination of his parents: having the graceful look of his father with a bit of his mother’s muscles. Those who think he’s undernourished have never seen him run. His lower body is well developed with durable calf muscles and bruises from the occasional fall. Other than pretty normal build, Skamar manages to look as unique as possible. His short hair might resemble a military cut, actually. Inventive purple dye gives his head a tribal look still. The South Pole did influence his appearance through a sapphire necklace, a full sleeve of tribal tattoo on his right arm, and of course clothing. The bender wears a sleeveless blue vest with baggy blue pants all patterned in the tradition of the water tribe. Also, for added distinction, he makes an effort to always wear a beanie that seems to be a unique version of wolf helmets warrior tribesmen wear.
::what I'm thinking
likes: Choral music, barbecue, being seaside, martial arts, tap dancing, and green teas.
dislikes: Noodly pastas, large animals, public transit, the pretentious, warlike folk, and radicals of any agenda.
sexuality: He's not unfamiliar with a good 'ole bromance and he appreciates the beauty of both genders. He doesn't even have a phobia. Romantically though, he is ladies only.
overall personality:
If Skamar was any closer to nature, he’d be a naturalist. Since we all rather not see that, he improvises by being a generally contented fella. The kid’s an idealist, they say. He shoots for the stars and approaches everything with utter positivity. Skamar feels most comfortable swimming, as expected from a water bender. He doesn’t really have any expectations; thus, he treats everything with a Taoist mindset. Nothing really offends him. No one deserves any anger thrown towards them, especially non-benders. He believes that he’s part of nature just like everything else and treats even the littlest fly with the utmost respect. Unfortunately, some might mistake his satisfaction for lack of ambition and they aren’t far off. Win or lose, however, Skamar is just who you need by your side to keep you thinking positive.
::a past to remember
Skamar Zapa, the result of a certain village’s most unlikely relationship, met the world during a tumultuous blizzard. The tribal shaman and witchdoctor delivered him under a sealskin tent inside an even bigger igloo. Plenty say that his mother, who once was an expert bending warrior, humbled herself that very moment. Ever since his birth, her ego was meek, in utter gratitude for him. His artist father painted a portrait of his wife holding his child as early as possible. That portrait still hangs high in their living hut. His upbringing was half-spent exploring his bending ability and using crafts to convey emotion. With birthday presents usually being hand-crafted and unassuming, Skamar never adopted the industrial, capitalist disposition that many people were growing into. He also spent his free time caring for his polar dog and canoeing. He wasn’t a fisher but he loved being surrounded by his element.
Skamar was introduced to Republic City in his teen years, since his father was hired to teach arts at a community university. He was quickly shown the bending sports that the city loved and dived into the dancing culture that also thrived. His mother took up dancing classes and soon began teaching some in their apartment. The combined wealth of his parents skyrocketed in recent times, with more classes for each Zapa. The son has just graduated from his bending tutor’s lessons and now desires to forge his own path. Skamar currently takes shifts at the local grill. He hopes to one day be able to buy a Satomobile and journey all through the continent practicing his craft. He might need another job to afford those things.
