Narye happily took Lao's hand and gave it a firm shake with a good smile.
"It's was a pleasure meeting with you, Lao. I hope to see you in the Pro-Bending Arena soon."
It was very evident that Lao wanted to get back to his run, if his bouncing was any indicator. With one last little salute, Narye let him get back to exactly that and turned to walk off down the path, the sun on his back and a smile on his face. Meeting and conversing with Lao was just the kind of pick-me-up he needed these days.
When Narye said that he would show up for Lao's Pro-Bending match, he meant it. It may have just been one conversation, but he felt that he really connected with the young Fire Bender on a level or two. Narye imagined this is what it would feel like if he had an older son, not that he would rather have one instead of a daughter. Even if she was... gone. The way he did not feel quite so depressed by that sudden thought was a testament to just how good he was feeling right then. That also reminded him...
Narye pulled out the little piece of paper that was in his own pocket. It was the note one his teenaged female students gave him earlier. He had yet to read it, but he had an idea of what it said. Opening it up, his suspicions were confirmed when it read "I'm having a pool party this weekend. You can come if you don't wear a shirt. <3 (I was dared to do this)"
He was surprised and grateful that the girl was at least honest that the note was not her own idea, although he felt that it was only a half-truth. Still, he would not be going, for a variety of reasons. Primarily because he would be grading tests this weekend.
